The Tower of Babel and Homemade Play-doh

Play-doh is a dirty business!

Do we eat it?  Nope!  Yucko!  I asked you, RG, what you thought it would taste like and you said, "umm... salt?"  YEA!!  Correct answer, but you didn't want to try it though!

Let's make it ORANGE!!!

Building our tower of babel... but it broke down about five inches up... just like our other plans we make without God.  If we think we can do it on our own, we are quickly made aware of our failure!

Now, it's just time to play with the texture!  We discovered that making homemade play-doh from scratch, starts off really hot, and gradually becomes cooler.  It is soft, yet has a grainy texture.

RG doesn't love to color right now, it's like pulling teeth to get him to use crayons!  We love to paint though!  :)

We had a great day today!  Mondays are always fun days!

Mommy will always love you!  You are SO fun and energetic and wonderful!  I love teaching you K4!  We get to do SO much more at home than you would get to do at a preschool!  You are so smart and so into everything we do!  I'm so proud of you, my boy!  My favorite!  :)

Love,
Mommy

This week Facebook has been filled with pictures of students beginning school and riding the bus or going to their class to meet their new teachers and the parents who've been posting these pictures have been very upset and sad that their children are going away to school.  This made me think about homeschooling even more and I'm so glad that I don't have to say "good-bye" or "have a nice day", "be sweet to your teacher" or "behave"!  I AM the teacher!!!  Our days are filled with wonderful crafts, writing projects, outside time, snacks anytime we want them, our schedule is flexible and our hugs are bountiful!  I love that I can stop "class" and get kisses anytime I want!  I love that we can take "science breaks" and go outside and pick up leaves or feed the birds.  I don't have to say good-bye!  Did I mention that???  I love it!!!!  I want to prepare you for the world, but I also want ME time!  This is my ME time!  With YOU!  You time is Me time!  I love you and look forward to every day with you.  Every day finding out new things and watching you make discoveries!  I love you RG!

Goodbye 3s!

RG, Mommy loves you.  I want you to know that some people say that there are "terrible twos" and sometimes that happens when a child turns three.  It's not always true.  For us, there were only terrific twos and tremendously happy threes!  You have been a joy and a blessing even in your sinful state.  There are so many more things for us to learn!  Sometimes I'm not sure if you are the teacher, or I am!  There are truly not words for how much you mean to me and how much I love you.  I believe you will probably never understand until you have children of your own.

Threes were full of:

Blocks, trains, bikes, butterflies and nets, construction vehicles, legos, math games, literacy, 10 Commandments, the Lord's Prayer, over 100 verses (you memorized them!), laughter, humor, joy, Bible Stories (your favorites always included swords-- like Goliath), books, books, books, paint, markers, chalk, dry-erase boards, letters (you were always building a nest (N.E.S.T.) because you said you were a duck-- and loved the rain for the same reason, you were irrevocably attached to NEMO-- your stuffed fish, we named our new fish Nemo (after Charlie and Charlie 2 died) who was a Beta fish, and you loved ALL things stuffed!  I could go on, but these were your favorite things.

You still cannot get enough "Daddy time" and love Piper, our dog.  You've recently, since Mommy became pregnant, have to take a nap in Mommy's bed with her.  (And it's kept you dry I might add! "No peeing in Mommy's bed!")  I don't mind.  I love cuddling with you!  I have to get my hugs and kisses while Daddy is gone!  Daddy hogs them when he's here!  :)

I love you, you are a joy to my heart and God has given you to me as a balm for my soul.  I know you are His and you will one day become a child of His kingdom because of His covenant promises.  Love you my baby,

Mommy

Good-bye 3s

BLUEBERRIES!!!

Today you and I picked blueberries with Grammy in Florida.  We are visiting her and Papa for the weekend.  I was so proud of you when you were picking blueberries!  You actually filled some of your bucket instead of just eating them all.  Don't worry, you ate plenty, but also picked a few and put them in your bucket.  At one point, you spilled your whole bucket on the ground, but you were so brave.  You didn't cry!  :)  I love you my bug.

Still in Love!

After almost 4 years I am still in love with my boys!  Robert Graham and I have begun a lot of different activities.  One, is we ride our bikes in the parking lot at our church, yes, I said, "we" because I realized after getting him a bike that I would not be able to keep up with him without my own!  Second, we do a LOT of kicking soccer balls and other bouncy balls.  His favorite game right now is "knock over the cones" which consists of four soccer cones and a ball.  He kicks the ball as hard as he can to knock the cones over and I must say is very talented at this self-made game!  Third, he loves his "baby fish" Nemo, who just happens to be a stuffed animal his Grammy bought him at the Atlanta Aquarium last year.  He calls him "my little boy" and tells all sorts of stories about Nemo.  Anything RG wants, Nemo already has 10 of them!  And he mentions to us frequently that, "Sometimes Nemo walks on only one fin", and "Nemo is a flying fish", and "Nemo can....ride a bike, swim faster than anyone else, wear a watch, drink milk, etc. etc." This Nemo is getting more and more daring and crazy each day.

I love the fact that RG still loves Veggietales.  He loves his puppy Piper and he is SUCH a Daddy's boy.  I love that he is creative, fun, and sweet (most of the time).  He is learning verses that correspond with each letter of the alphabet, actually has memorized them all!  He is learning catechism (Baptist), and the 10 Commandments.  He is VERY smart.  He is such a memorizer that sometimes it gets him into trouble! He never forgets anything we say though so we must be very careful and gentle at times.  He has a soft heart and seems to be developing a gentle spirit.
